Commercial Disinfection Services
Disinfection is distinct from cleaning and follows it. A surface must be physically clean before a disinfectant can work on it, and the product needs its full contact time on the surface. Disinfection applied to a soiled surface, or wiped off early, achieves very little.
There is more theatre in this part of the industry than in any other, so it is worth stating the mechanics plainly.
Cleaning First, Always
Disinfectants are deactivated by organic soil. Applying one to a surface that has not been cleaned is largely wasted, regardless of the product. The sequence is clean, then disinfect, and any protocol that reverses or merges them is not doing what it claims.
Contact Time Is the Whole Thing
Every disinfectant has a required dwell time on the surface, stated on its label, during which it must remain wet to be effective. Spraying and immediately wiping is the most common error in commercial disinfection and it defeats the product entirely. If you want to test a contractor's protocol, ask what contact time they work to and what happens on surfaces that dry faster than that.
Where It Is Actually Worth Doing
High-touch points, which is a much shorter list than most proposals suggest: door handles and push plates, light switches, handrails, lift buttons, shared equipment, taps and flush handles, shared desk surfaces, and in retail the payment terminal and counter. Disinfecting a floor achieves considerably less than disinfecting a door handle, and costs more.

We do not hold any environmental or infection-control certification, and we will not describe this service as medical-grade or hospital-grade. It is thorough commercial disinfection performed in the correct sequence with the correct contact time. Where your premises require a certified clinical protocol, that should be specified at tender.
